modify menu bar

Hi everyone, How can I remove the item that I've just inserted on my menu tab. Normally I just click on the tools then customize then menus and then a dialogue box appears...... but now when I do that instead of the dialogue box the command prompt appears and ask me to "Enter name of menu file to load/unload". Any help is very much appreciated.

CMDDIA and FILEDIA variables need to be on if you want pop-ups: learn these,
memorize them, look up usage in HELP.

thanks dean and i also figured out what went wrong. I downloaded somebody else's program without knowing that it will change all my variable to the default settings. I'll take your advice and use the help more frequently.
